In September 2024, Ukraine's vehicle fleet grew by nearly 1,200 passenger cars imported from China. This figure is 8% lower than in the same month last year. Overall, vehicles of Chinese origin accounted for 16% of the September market for new passenger cars.
Among the total number of Chinese cars brought to Ukraine, new vehicles made up 77% ─ 911 units. Used cars represented 23% ─ 265 units. It's worth noting that the number of new cars imported from China increased by 3% over the year. Meanwhile, the quantity of used imported vehicles decreased by 34% compared to September 2023. Thus, Ukrainians are gradually moving away from purchasing used Chinese cars in favor of new models.
Other interesting figures regarding Chinese-built cars include:
- In the segment of used cars that were registered for the first time in Ukraine, the share of "Chinese" vehicles was 1.6%.
- The vast majority of passenger cars from China were electric vehicles — 81%.
