Windows 11 Recall works without NPU - the program ran on an older Snapdragon 7c+, x86-x64 processors are not available yet

An enthusiast found out that the new Recall program in Windows 11 does not require the presence of a neural processor (NPU) in the processor. The function of Recall is to record everything that happens on the PC for data recovery or search. However, the program did not work on a regular x86-x64 processor, but on a PC with an older Snapdragon 7c+ processor. According to the official hardware requirements for Recall, you need a Copilot+ PC with 16 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and an NPU chip with a performance of 40+ TOPS. Currently, only PCs with Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors meet these requirements. On a system with a regular processor, the program did not work because it tried to load an AI model for x64, which does not exist. That's why an old computer with an ARM Snapdragon 7c+ processor was needed. The main Recall technology worked successfully on it without a separate NPU chip, although the neural processor is needed for some tasks. The Recall program is only included in Windows 11 24H2 Build 26100.712, which was recently released for testers, but it is hidden. Even if Recall is opened, AI integration will not work because x64 models are not yet available. Windows 11 Recall integration first checks if there is an NPU on the PC. In the program, you can choose which hardware to run AI on if needed. In the case of this PC with Snapdragon 7c+, Recall relied on the processor. Recall will be able to work on existing Intel and AMD systems without NPU chips, but you will have to wait for the release of x64 AI. And although NPU is not mandatory for Recall, Microsoft may not want to include these features for video cards or other hardware capable of processing the model.
