Huawei has launched the Mate XT Ultimate Design — the world's first triple-fold smartphone. When folded, it matches the thickness of the Samsung Galaxy Fold6, as shown in the photo.
Indeed, the smartphone, which consists of three segments connected by two hinges, is as slim as the Samsung, which is made of only two halves. It remains uncertain how durable it is, but the photo is astonishing. It is currently a hot topic on Reddit.
Technically, that's not entirely accurate: the Huawei Mate XT has a thickness of 12.8 mm, while the Fold6 is 12.1 mm, making it slimmer. However, the difference of 0.7 mm is hardly noticeable to the eye. Still, the Huawei can fold into three segments and boasts a 10.7″ display, compared to the 7.6″ display of the Fold6.
Samsung fans argue that the Korean company pays much more attention to durability and longevity when it comes to folding devices. Since the release of the first Galaxy Fold in 2019, Samsung has reportedly focused on refining the details to ensure superior strength and endurance.
On the other hand, the design of the Samsung Galaxy Fold has remained almost unchanged for many years. With each generation, the folding smartphones receive only minor updates. Most of these improvements suggest that Samsung is likely addressing issues very slowly, while the Chinese manufacturer has become a true innovator in this niche. Regardless, the side-by-side photo of these two cutting-edge phones is certainly impressive.
