Now we understand where all the assassins went — they were preparing for the Olympics.
The opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics amazed audiences with a vibrant display of French culture. Among the diverse elements of the show, a mysterious banner bearer in a white hood, who leaped across the rooftops of Paris, drew particular attention.
I wasn't certain how I was feeling about not having the Olympics Opening ceremony in a stadium for spectacle reasons but then we got Stomp and an Assassin's Creed parkour bit and I'm all in. pic.twitter.com/S702MZNVUl

Initially, many perceived this character's appearance as a coincidence, as his outfit did not entirely match the iconic design from the Assassin's Creed game series. However, it later became clear that this was an intentional video game reference.
Ubisoft, the publisher of the Assassin's Creed series, confirmed the connection between the parkour performer at the ceremony and the game. In their tweet, they wrote: "Keep an eye on Paris' rooftops — Arno might be watching from above," hinting at the main character of Assassin's Creed Unity.

Assassin's Creed Unity, released nearly ten years ago, is part of the series set in Paris. Despite a rocky start due to technical issues, the game later received acclaim for its stunning recreation of the French capital. The realism of the virtual Paris in Unity was so high that data from the game was used in the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral after the devastating fire.
Let's remember that the questionable historical accuracy and potential disrespect towards Japanese culture in the game Assassin's Creed Shadows have led to a scandal that continues to unfold.
