Amazon plans to sell off its stock of Kindle Oasis and will not restock it in the future.
Yesterday, Amazon announced an updated lineup of devices, but the Oasis—the only Kindle e-reader with physical buttons—was notably absent from the list. Later, in a comment to The Verge, the company confirmed that it is halting production of the Kindle Oasis.
“Once the current inventory of Kindle Oasis is sold online and in stores, we will not replenish the stock of these devices,” said Devon Corvas from Amazon. “Today, all our devices are touch-operated, which is more convenient for customers.”
Amazon first introduced the Kindle Oasis in 2016, marketing it as a premium e-reader with physical page-turn buttons and a design featuring additional thickness on one side to make it easier to hold with one hand. The company updated the e-reader in 2017 and 2019, but has not released any new models since then.
