At the Lenovo Tech World presentation, Intel's CEO Pat Gelsinger showcased a sample of the new laptop chip to Lenovo's president Yuanqing Yang.

The Panther Lake chip is Intel's first product manufactured using the 18A process. Its packaging design differs from Lunar Lake, which features integrated RAM. The processor employs Foveros packaging technology. It comprises five die and includes high-performance Panther Cove cores along with energy-efficient Darkmont cores. This is also the first product to feature the Xe3 graphics, albeit in a low-power version. It seems that no one expected to see a chip with Xe3 graphics before Intel launched the discrete Xe2 graphics cards.

“There’s one more thing before I leave the stage. You know we’ve been working together on Meteor Lake, Lunar Lake, and Core Ultra PCs, with impressive battery life, a CPU, GPU, and NPU, but we’re not done yet, are we? So I’d like to present to you the first sample of Panther Lake. This is our next product built on 18A, which will be launched based on the great work we announced today.”

Intel has not yet commented on the performance of Panther Lake. However, Gelsinger previously mentioned that the NPU block would deliver double the performance of Lunar Lake. Recently, Intel confirmed in patch notes that Panther Lake will be equipped with NPU5, which, according to this information, will be six times faster than the Meteor Lake NPU.

There are also discussions about the potential debut of Panther Lake in desktop computers, but no official or unofficial roadmap leaks have confirmed this. Allegedly, the company has scrapped its plans for an Arrow Lake Refresh. Meanwhile, the head of Lenovo placed the Panther Lake processor in his pocket, symbolizing the next generation of laptops.
