In announcing the Red Magic 9S Pro, the manufacturer referred to it as the "most powerful gaming smartphone." This claim was not far from the truth. According to AnTuTu's performance rankings for August, the Red Magic 9S Pro+ variant topped the list.
Each month, the AnTuTu benchmarking team releases two rankings from the previous month: one for flagship devices and another for upper mid-range devices. The positions are based on the average score of all tests conducted during the prior month (in this case, August) for models that were tested at least 1,000 times.
Thanks to the overclocked Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version processor and an effective cooling system, the Red Magic 9S Pro+ achieved an average score of 2,127,528 points in the AnTuTu test, allowing it to secure the top spot. In second place, with a notable gap, was the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, followed by the iQOO Neo9S Pro+. The list further includes Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro, iQOO Neo9S Pro, Redmi K70, vivo X100 Ultra, vivo X100 Pro, vivo X100, and OnePlus 12.
Six models from the top 10 most powerful smartphones of August are based on various versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. The other four utilize the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 or 9300+.
Turning to the upper mid-range category, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 clearly dominates. The top two spots are held by devices running on this chipset: OnePlus Ace 3V and Realme GT Neo6 SE. Following them is the Redmi K70E powered by the Dimensity 8300-Ultra processor. In fourth place, with a significant gap, is the Realme GT Neo5 SE equipped with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2. This same chipset is also found in the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which secured fifth place.
Next are the iQOO Z8 (Dimensity 8200), iQOO Neo7 SE (Dimensity 8200), OnePlus Ace (Dimensity 8100-Max), Redmi Note 12T Pro (Dimensity 8200), and Oppo K10 5G (Dimensity 8000-Max).
