Google is blurring the lines between reality and virtuality with its new smartphone, the Pixel 9.
According to information that has surfaced online, the device will feature an innovative function called “Add Me.” This technology will allow users to insert themselves into group photos, even if they were not physically present during the shooting.
Details about this new feature emerged from a leaked commercial (which has since been removed from YouTube) published by Android Headlines. The video demonstrated how a Pixel 9 user takes a photo of two friends and then swaps places with them. Subsequently, the smartphone “adds” the photographer's image to the shot, creating the illusion that all three were present at the same time.
In addition to “Add Me,” the Pixel 9 will feature other intriguing functionalities. Among them is an updated voice assistant named Gemini and a tool called Pixel Screenshots, which leverages artificial intelligence to find relevant information in screenshots. Improvements are also expected for the Magic Editor feature, allowing users to change the background of photos using text queries.
It’s important to note that Google already has experience in creating AI tools for photo editing. Previously, the company introduced Magic Eraser for removing unwanted objects from images and Best Take, which allows users to swap faces in photos. The official unveiling of the Pixel 9 is scheduled for August 13.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian YouTube channel Andro-News has produced the first exclusive video review of the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL available online.
