In Austin, Texas, Optimus Prime was arrested. But Autobots can rest assured about the fate of their leader, and fans should not worry about the "Transformers" franchise. Ironically, 37-year-old Optimus Prime Blakely is accused of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
He was stopped by police on June 4 after being spotted behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle. It is unknown whether the car resembled a red and blue truck, as the police did not provide a description of the vehicle. Optimus was taken to Travis County Jail and held on bail of $8000.
The leader of the Transformers, Optimus Prime, has held a prominent place in pop culture since the early 1980s, when the American company Hasbro partnered with the Japanese company Takara Tomy to release the first series of Transformer figures.
After several animated series in the 1980s and 1990s, Hasbro brought director Michael Bay to adapt the franchise for the big screen. Since the release of "Transformers" with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox in the lead roles in 2007, six more films have been released.
