Tesla is intensifying the promotion of driver assistance technologies. Now employees of the company in North America must install and demonstrate the relevant technologies before handing over the cars to buyers. This is a "strict requirement," which, according to Elon Musk, will slow down deliveries. At the same time, it may increase the company's earnings with steady sales volumes.
Musk has instructed employees to conduct a "short test drive" with clients to demonstrate the system that Tesla promotes as Full Self-Driving. This is evidenced by an internal memo seen by Bloomberg. Workers will also have to check any vehicles returned from operation.
"I know it will slow down the delivery process, but nevertheless, this is a strict requirement," Musk noted, pointing out the lack of awareness of Tesla's system capabilities. "This is very important."
In the memo, Musk also stated that "almost no one really understands how well (under observation) FSD actually works."
This move could encourage customers to order Full Self-Driving cars. Currently, Tesla sells this option for $12,000. In the company's marketing materials, it promises that "your car will be able to drive itself almost anywhere with minimal driver intervention and will continually improve."
Tesla and Musk have not commented on this information.
