Alexander "Sei" Laptij, a soldier from the 12th Brigade "Azov," spoke about his involvement in the continuation of the iconic Ukrainian game S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

A former theater and film actor before the war, and now a defender of Ukraine, Laptij revealed unique details about his contribution to the creation of the sequel. He shared insights into working on the project, discussed the challenges of balancing acting with military service, and described his experience of voicing a character in wartime conditions.

At the beginning of the video, the actor reiterates a line from the trailer, spoken by one of the new characters in the game, Faust: "The Zone is what you see it to be." It’s possible that this character was played by "Sei."

Before the war, Alexander participated in well-known Ukrainian films, including "Zahar Berkut," "The Rules of Engagement," and "Cherkasy." He was invited to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 project via a message from the casting director.

"They started with the question: 'Do you know that game?'. I said: 'Not only do I know it, but I've played it several times,'" the actor recounts.

Working on the game is different from the usual film process. Alexander describes the complex character animation process:

"You have a bunch of markers on you, and a bunch of cameras positioned around to 'capture' you, and you have to perform a ritual. For example, position A, position B, and some position C. The cameras lock in place, calibrate to you, capturing your movements, and then the work begins."

The full-scale invasion altered Alexander's plans. He endured the siege of Chernihiv, and then he decided to join the ranks of "Azov."

"I applied for the Basic Combat Training Course on June 17... By the way, it will soon be a year since I joined the training grounds and became part of the 'Azov' brigade," Laptij recalls.

Despite his military service, Alexander managed to continue working on the game. He received permission from the command to participate in voice recording.

"Literally, one evening, the commander comes in and says: 'That's it, friend "Radish" gave the green light.' I then went for the first three-day session in Kyiv," the actor shares.

The game development process is shrouded in secrecy. Alexander signed non-disclosure agreements and received only parts of the script before recording his lines.

"Several ending options. Several plot development options. By the way, it was quite complicated. For example, you record 6 variations of one scene," he shares.

Alexander portrayed one of the most interesting characters in the game, in his opinion. He even added a personal touch by whistling "How can I not love you, my Kyiv," which will be featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

"Some actor improvisation was received positively by the production team," notes Laptij.

Finally, the actor shared a touching moment:

"A lot of guys say: 'Sei, now we need to survive until the release.' I said: 'Yes, definitely, guys. We need to live to see the release.' And we need to end this war and reintegrate into peaceful life."

The release of the game "S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl" is scheduled for September 5. GSC Game World even released a video that allows you to listen to the game's radio. Additionally, a limited edition energy drink Non Stop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Moonlight has gone on sale.
