The original version of the game Resident Evil by Capcom for PC with Windows is now available through the GOG digital store. Thanks to this, players can enjoy the classic survival horror game released back in 1996. As a new generation of players has grown up who missed the original. Along with it, the re-releases of PC versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis are available on GOG.

The reissue of Resident Evil for PC includes all the original content and features quality improvements and enhanced compatibility with modern systems. Like other GOG releases for PC, the PC version of Resident Evil is DRM-free.

At the same time, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis are available through GOG's wishlist and are distributed on pre-order terms as part of the trilogy.

The original Resident Evil game was originally released in 1996 for PlayStation. Later, Capcom ported the game to Windows, and this release included uncensored cutscenes not available in the original PlayStation version. The PC version of Resident Evil also had two additional weapons that could be unlocked: Ingram submachine gun for Jill Valentine and Minimi machine gun for Chris Redfield. Jill and Chris also received PC-exclusive costumes that could be unlocked.

Subsequently, Capcom released a remake of Resident Evil for PC with Windows. But the classic PC version of Resident Evil remained stuck in the CD-ROM format for much longer, although unofficial game downloads were available. The release on GOG will be a legal and official way to acquire the PC version of Resident Evil and, ultimately, its sequels from 1998 and 1999.

The PC version of Resident Evil 2 was based on the PlayStation game "Dual Shock Ver." reissue and includes high-resolution character models and an art gallery. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for PC also contains enhanced 3D character models and graphics with higher resolution, but players criticized it for the implemented keyboard and mouse support.

Over the past two decades, Capcom has remade the first four main games of the Resident Evil franchise, but the GOG reissue will give survival horror fans a chance to recreate the originals with some modern conveniences.
