Rockstar plans to release an enhanced version of GTA 5 for PC in 2025.
Nearly three years ago, Rockstar Games launched an updated edition of Grand Theft Auto V titled Expanded and Enhanced for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. This version featured improved graphics, quicker load times, and even the option to skip the prologue in GTA Online. However, the PC edition of the game did not receive these updates.
Recently, Rockstar finally acknowledged the PC version in a new blog post. The company announced that the "long-awaited" features will also be available for PC.
Although the exact list of updates for PC players has not yet been revealed, at least the main enhancements from the console versions are expected to be carried over. These include ray tracing for reflections, increased NPC count and traffic on roads, improved textures and effects, 3D audio, HDR, wildlife, and more. The faster loading times and character switching seen on consoles were achieved through the use of SSDs, so on PC, this will continue to depend on the type of storage the player uses.
There is no definitive release date for the Expanded and Enhanced update for PC yet, but it is expected to occur soon, as Rockstar states that the launch will take place "in the new year."
