Geely is aiming for expansion in the international electric vehicle market with its latest model—the Geely EX5 electric crossover. Initially introduced in China as the Geely Galaxy E5 in August, the EX5 was originally developed as a global model. This electric vehicle has undergone rigorous testing in both left- and right-hand drive configurations, ensuring its adaptability to various markets.
The Geely EX5 measures 4615 mm in length, 1901 mm in width, 1670 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2750 mm. The vehicle is built on the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA) platform and complies with regulatory requirements in 89 countries worldwide. Its electric drive system integrates 11 main components into a single unit, which helps to reduce weight and improve efficiency.
The crossover is equipped with a 160 kW electric motor (with a torque of 320 Nm) positioned on the front axle. The Geely EX5 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. The vehicle trim options include battery capacities of 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, providing ranges of 440 km and 530 km respectively (based on the CLTC standard).
The standard interior of the EX5 features a 15.4-inch infotainment system display with a resolution of 2.5K, complemented by a 10.2-inch LCD instrument panel. Higher trims offer a head-up display. The electronic systems of the EX5 are powered by a 7-nm Dragon Eagle-1 chip.
Geely has confirmed the launch of the EX5 in Europe, Australia, and several Asian countries, hinting that sales could begin as early as the end of 2024.
