The team behind the Fallout: Nuevo Mexico mod has released the first trailer for the project. This extensive modification for Fallout: New Vegas transports players to a post-apocalyptic Mexico City.
The trailer offers an early glimpse into what the team plans to achieve. The video provides fans with a sense of scale: crumbling skyscrapers loom over once-bustling streets of Mexico City, most of which are now overgrown. Factions are battling for control, vying for survival amidst the radioactive wasteland. Locations such as Chapultepec Park and the canals of Xochimilco are in ruin, yet still recognizable.
The mod encompasses several areas of the devastated city, managing to blend "beauty and brutality." It is still in the early stages of development, with the video showcasing a vision for an exciting recreation of one of America's largest cities.
"Although we are still in the development stage, we are excited to finally reveal this iconic Wasteland. The once vibrant heart of a vast metropolis now lies in ruins, with Mexico City turned into a battleground for factions fighting for dominance and survival."
The trailer's description warns fans that Fallout: Nuevo Mexico is still very much a work in progress. Level detailing for hubs and areas is ongoing, with a playable version not expected until next year.
The mod has been in development for several years, and its creators had "disappeared from the radar" for a time, which surprised many gamers with their new activity.
