S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is finally set to launch on November 20, but it won't include all the technical and gameplay features that will be added later.

The GSC Game World development team is currently refining S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in preparation for its release. The company plans an update along with announced story DLCs afterward. Additionally, three important modes will only become available after the game launches. One of them, hardware ray tracing, is unlikely to be ready by November 20. Alessio Palumbo from Wccftech reported this from an interview with the lead producer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, Slava Lukyanenko.

“We will have software ray tracing. As for hardware ray tracing, it’s still early for us, but we are experimenting with it. We are trying to get it ready for the release date, but it is very unlikely that it will be available at launch. However, NVIDIA DLSS will be.”

Two more features that will be introduced in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 after launch are cross-platform modding and multiplayer gameplay. Lukyanenko and PR specialist Zakhar Bocharov provided details about the modifications:

“S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a well-known franchise not only because of its games but also due to the support of a modding community that has thrived for the last 15 years, and we don’t want to abandon these people. So, following the release, I can’t specify when exactly, but we want to implement official mod support as close to launch as possible. We are preparing exciting new initiatives for next year. We aim to support both PC and console,” says Slava Lukyanenko.

There is less information available about the multiplayer component. GSC Game World previously stated that they would add multiplayer after the game is released. Currently, the developers are focused on polishing the single-player experience. Zakhar Bocharov mentions that there is no new information on this matter at the moment.
