Following the recent presentation of the iPhone 16 series smartphones, Apple is set to shift its focus towards the Mac lineup. Although the September event highlighted the company’s expanding ecosystem and advancements in AI with Apple Intelligence, there were no announcements regarding Mac and iPad. Rumors suggest that a presentation for laptops and computers is scheduled for October.
Industry insider Mark Gurman speculates that the October event will center around new Macs powered by M4 chips, promising a significant performance boost over the current M3 generation. The new lineup is expected to include:
- J604 — a new budget-friendly 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring an M4 chip.
- J614 and J616 — new high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, each equipped with two options of professional-level M4 chips.
- J623: a new iMac with an M4 chip.
- J773: a refreshed and more compact Mac mini available with M4 and M4 Pro chip options.
Gurman indicates that production of most of these new models is already in full swing:
“I’ve been told that most of these Macs are already shipping from factories (except for some high-end MacBook Pro models and the Mac mini with M4 Pro) and are ready for launch right now.”
Gurman also suggests that Apple is likely waiting for all new Macs to be ready for simultaneous delivery. M4 chip MacBook Air models (J713 and J715) are expected in the first quarter of 2025, while a new Mac Studio (J575) is anticipated by mid-year. The Mac Pro (J704) is set to debut by the end of 2025.
The absence of the M4 MacBook Air in the near future may disappoint some, as the fanless design remains a popular choice among users.
