Google has launched Android 15 Beta 2 on Pixel and other smartphones. Google offers a "gradual release of the beta version" with Beta 2 - they will be suitable for daily use.
Android 15 introduces Private Space mode, which allows you to create a separate area for selected applications. This restricts access to third parties to the applications - they can be restricted or hidden. Access to applications can be obtained after fingerprint authentication, entering a password, or a PIN code, which are separate from those unlocking the phone. Notifications and program data in the private space will be isolated from the rest of the phone through settings and other programs.
Android 15 Beta 2 adds support for devices using large page sizes - up to 16 KB, compared to a size of 4 KB. Devices with larger page sizes will have improved performance and more intensive memory usage.
- Taskbar pinning on the screen and the ability to use app pairs have been added. Google did not provide much information about these features, they can be viewed after the update.
- Another change allows the system to address the user as they want. This means choosing languages and genders to be used on Android. There can be more than one language.
- Improved access to favorite photos: now apps will be able to have limited access to media.
- Smooth entry into picture-in-picture (PiP) mode - smoother transition animation without flickering.
- Enhanced vibration effects for notification channels - will allow better differentiation of notification types without looking at the smartphone.
- Changes in app access to services, improved AV1 support, and interface enhancement.
The new feature of Android 15 is "Theft Detection Lock". Although it is not in this beta version, the feature will appear later this year. It uses the accelerometer and artificial intelligence to recognize theft when someone tries to snatch the phone from your hand and run away. Any corresponding movement will automatically lock the phone.
In addition to Pixel, some smartphones from Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Nothing, OnePlus, OPPO, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi will receive the update.
