"You're charging them wrong": Samsung has named the reason for the paint peeling on the Galaxy Fold6

Several weeks after the launch, some users of the Samsung Galaxy Fold6 have noticed that the paint on their devices, which cost upwards of ₴80,000, is peeling off at the edges. Samsung attributes this issue to the use of third-party chargers.

Samsung addressed the problem on support pages in certain regions, particularly in Canada. The company suggests that the peeling paint may be caused by poorly grounded third-party chargers. According to Samsung, these chargers can cause power leakage that affects the anodized coating of the phone, leading to a loss of finish. In addition to wired chargers, wireless Qi devices and EMS massagers powered by the phone are also mentioned.

The smartphone manufacturer notes that high-quality chargers from reputable brands that meet standards should not pose an issue. Samsung warns against fake and low-quality chargers. The company also recommends using its official chargers.

Naturally, this explanation has been met with skepticism. Many Reddit users express their surprise that charging methods which have never caused such problems with other Samsung devices have had this effect specifically on the Galaxy Fold6. Owners are comparing the response to the infamous Apple remark: “You’re just holding it wrong.” At the time, the iPhone 4 manufacturer faced backlash for downplaying the design flaws of the smartphone, which resulted in users blocking the antenna.
