The remake of Silent Hill 2 has barely cooled down since its release, yet modders have already started producing some peculiar modifications for the game.

The Silent Hill series is renowned for its ever-present fog, but some of the most fascinating mods available on NexusMods completely eliminate the fog, transforming the game into an entirely different experience.

For instance, FrancisLouis has created a mod called Silent Hill 2 HD Collection, which humorously hints at the edition where a significant amount of the distinctive fog was removed.

That same modder took it a step further by developing Sunny Hills. This mod introduces sunny weather to the game along with an option to eliminate the fog.

There is also a mod called NorskPL, which swaps the protagonist James Sunderland's model with one from the 2001 game.

However, for a true retro feel, you should check out the performance configuration by MAK Moderator, which acts as a demake to recreate PS2 era graphics.

Perhaps the most clever mod replaces James Sunderland's model with Leon Kennedy from the remake of the horror game Resident Evil 4.

It's worth noting that the Silent Hill 2 Remake was released last week and has received high praise from critics. You can read more about the game in our review.
