Apple CEO Tim Cook uses Apple Vision Pro daily. He shared this in an interview with The Sun. Cook said that he uses Vision Pro "in all aspects of [his] everyday life."
In particular, Cook mentioned using the headset to watch the third season of Ted Lasso as well as viewing other Apple TV+ content with the headset.
"So the ability for me to get in that position where I want to be, specifically lying flat, and point the screen at the ceiling, is an amazing experience. And, of course, it's a 100-foot screen. I mean, it's an amazing level of entertainment that it provides," praised Tim Cook the headset.
Cook then mentioned that he finds multitasking "much more effective" in Vision Pro due to the support of multiple windows that can be placed in the user's physical space. Among other advantages, he attributed the easy gesture control that works "the way your mind works." He added that it's very difficult to describe the headset's impressions in words, so he invites interested parties to attend a demonstration.
Despite all these advantages, the first Apple Vision Pro augmented reality headset is not in high demand. In the domestic market - in the USA - the company has not been able to sell 100,000 units since its presentation. Expanding to other markets may improve the situation. The interview with Cook was dedicated to the launch of the headset in the UK.
However, according to IDC, it is expected that sales of Apple Vision Pro will drop by 75% in the current quarter. One of the main reasons for weak sales is cited as the high price of $3499. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo adds that users often return the headset even after purchasing it due to the limited utility of Apple Vision Pro.
Nevertheless, it is expected that less than 500,000 units of such devices will be sold by 2024. The situation may improve with a cheaper version of the headset that Apple specialists are working on. It is expected to cost about half as much.
