Apple Watch lay in the ocean for a year and a half - after that, the watch still worked

A user of Apple Watch found his watch in the ocean more than a year after he lost it. This happened thanks to the Apple Find My feature, which works on the company's devices.

The Apple Watch survived underwater until they were found over a year later. Jared Brick lost his watch in the Caribbean and was able to retrieve it thanks to Find My. But the amazing thing is that the Apple Watch were still in working condition despite the pressure and exposure to fluid.

In a YouTube video, Brick explained that in June 2022, he went on a trip to the Caribbean to celebrate his son's birthday. He gave his son an Apple Watch and bought one for himself. The owner stated that he used to dive with scuba gear twice a day and never took off the Apple Watch. This makes sense because the device is certified for a depth of 50m. However, one day after diving, the Apple Watch was missing from his wrist.

“They disappeared, slipped off my wrist into the water. At that time, I was not aware of it, my attention was diverted by the real beauty of the place.”

More than a year later, Brick used the Find My feature from Apple to mark the Apple Watch as lost. In December, he received a voicemail from an unknown man from the Caribbean, claiming that he had Jared's Apple Watch.

“Thank you to Jonathan from the Caribbean for finding the watch, contacting me, sending it to me, and to Apple for creating such amazing technology.”

One can be happy for the owner, but the case is strange even for Apple tech stories. The watch should have been lying on the bottom for a year, without enough chemically active seawater getting inside.
