Vaio has announced the creation of the world's lightest portable monitor. The new Vaio Vision+ 14 weighs only 325 g and has a thickness of 3.9 mm (at the thinnest point). At the same time, the manufacturer claims a durable design and decent specifications.
The portable monitor Vaio Vision+ 14 features a 14-inch panel with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels (16:10 aspect ratio). The display provides "high brightness, wide viewing angles, wide color gamut," but specific parameters are not specified. It also features an anti-glare coating. The device has 2 USB Type-C ports, including one with PD pass-through. The monitor only requires 10 W of power to operate, but for pass-through PD and laptop charging, at least 65 W is recommended.
The novelty has dimensions of 312.0×211.1x3.9~12.4 mm. The wider part contains connectors, electronic components, and a stand that allows the display to be placed horizontally next to the laptop. If necessary, Vaio Vision+ 14 can be placed above the laptop display. The package includes a protective case. It adds dimensions (334×222 mm) and weight to the display, as the case alone weighs more than the display - 440 g. The total weight increases to 765 g. Nevertheless, the manufacturer claims high durability for the novelty, so it is possible to put Vaio Vision+ 14 in a laptop bag without the protective case.
The portable display Vaio Vision+ 14 will go on sale in Japan for about $340. Information about prices and sales start dates in other regions is not yet available.
