Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in all of CD Projekt Red's games, confirmed that the beloved character will appear in the next installment of The Witcher series, though not as the main protagonist.
In a recent video for Fall Damage, Doug Cockle discussed Geralt's upcoming appearance in the new Witcher game. The actor mentioned that he can't share details but confirmed the character's presence in the game, even though he won’t be the focus of the story.
“They announced The Witcher 4. Geralt will be part of the game, but we don’t know how significant his role will be. This time, the story isn’t about him. We don’t know who it is about. I’m really looking forward to finding out. I want to know! I haven’t seen any scripts yet,” shared Cockle.
Back in 2013, when announcing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red stated that it would conclude the saga of Geralt. However, the developers left the door open for the character's return. John Mamais, the executive producer, remarked at the time:
“We can include Geralt in future games. We just need to discuss it and decide what to do next.”
As for the main protagonist of the next Witcher game, that remains a mystery. Ciri might seem like an obvious choice, although that would canonize one of the endings of The Witcher 3. Official comics have already made similar moves.
The only hint about the new game is a medallion shaped like a lynx, possibly from the Cat School. This suggests the potential introduction of a completely new witcher from this enigmatic school.
With The Witcher 4 recently entering pre-production and Cockle not having seen the script yet, fans will have to wait a while longer before learning more details.
