Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled details regarding difficulty settings in the upcoming game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which is set for release on Halloween.
“Regardless of skill level or abilities, we want everyone to enjoy a full experience and the story of our game,” EA stated.
To achieve this, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will feature five "carefully crafted" difficulty levels, encompassing all possible options:
- Storyteller: for those who simply want to enjoy the narrative.
- Keeper: a “balanced combat experience” focusing on party composition and equipment choices rather than reflexes.
- Adventurer: a “balanced experience” that equally blends combat, party makeup, and equipment selection.
- Underdog: for those who seek to challenge their limits. Requires strategic planning and tactical decisions.
- Nightmare: “intense battles that show no mercy.” Mastery of combat, gear, skills, and game mechanics is essential for survival.
It is important to note that selecting the Nightmare difficulty level is an irreversible decision. The only way to change it is to start a new game from scratch, so players should be cautious when choosing this mode.
For those who prefer a more flexible approach, there is an Unbound option that allows players to customize individual parameters that “affect numerous aspects of the game.” EA recommends choosing a preset difficulty for the first playthrough, but the choice ultimately lies with the player.
Besides difficulty settings, Dragon Age: The Veilguard also offers a range of other options to adjust the combat experience. These include parry timing, aim assist strength, enemy aggression, and more.
Recapping, BioWare recently showcased five regions of Dragon Age: The Veilguard in separate videos and discussed world exploration.
The game will be released on October 31 for PC (Steam, Epic Games), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
