According to insider Kopite7kimi, Nvidia plans to release its upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card featuring 32 GB of memory. At the same time, both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 cards are expected to be more power-hungry, as Nvidia aims to introduce a more powerful next-gen GPU.
The GeForce RTX 5090 is reportedly going to require 600 watts of power. It is currently unclear whether this requirement refers to the entire graphics card or just the GPU itself. Either way, it seems that the RTX 5090 will consume 150 watts more than its predecessor, the RTX 4090. In terms of specifications, the new RTX 5090 will boast 21,760 CUDA cores and 32 GB of GDDR7 memory with a 512-bit memory interface.

The GeForce RTX 5080 will require "only" 400 watts of power. For comparison, its predecessor, the RTX 4080, needed 320 watts. This model will feature significantly reduced specifications, including 10,752 CUDA cores and 16 GB of GDDR7 memory.
While details about the top-end Nvidia RTX 50 graphics cards have already leaked, it is still uncertain when their official announcement will take place. A reveal during the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2025 is anticipated.
