According to YouControl (via Highload), the Ukrainian IT sector is experiencing a decline in the registration of new sole proprietors — for instance, the total dropped to 9.1 thousand during the summer (a decrease of 21% compared to last year and 48% compared to 2021).
From June to August 2023, IT specialists registered 11.6 thousand sole proprietors, while in the same period of 2021, there were 18.7 thousand.
Overall, a decline has been noted across all sectors, with the exception of agriculture and wholesale trade, which saw an increase in registrations of 64% and 8% respectively.
The number of "closed" sole proprietors in the IT sector is also growing — this summer, 8.8 thousand were registered (a 157% increase compared to the summer of 2021).
Considering the trends in sole proprietor registrations overall, as mentioned earlier, there has been a significant rise in the number of women entrepreneurs: in the summer of 2024, 62.5% (46 thousand) of new sole proprietors were women.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Taxation and Customs Policy previously stated that sole proprietors will again be required to pay the single social contribution (SSC) in 2025.
