The Netflix mobile app will soon end support for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, requiring newer versions of the operating systems that can receive updates and bug fixes.
This limitation will particularly affect owners of the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus, as well as users of the iPad Pro (1st generation) and iPad (5th generation) — specifically, all devices that do not support iOS 17 or iPadOS 17.
For a period, owners of the aforementioned devices will still be able to use the current version of the Netflix app, but they will not receive any new features. At the same time, they will be able to access the service through a browser without issue.
The list of models that will lose support for the Netflix mobile app includes:
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPad Pro (1st generation)
- iPad (5th generation)
Code strings regarding future changes were discovered in the Netflix app by MacRumors author Aaron Perrin. It is unclear with which specific update support will be discontinued, but given that the code was noticed in the latest version, it is likely to happen fairly soon.
