It seems that the Samsung Galaxy Ring smart ring will hit the market soon. This is indicated by the device passing certification at the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The documentation also revealed some characteristics and information about the ring.
The FCC database indicates various ring sizes, ranging from 5 to 12, with each size assigned its own model number: SM-Q503, SM-Q502, SM-Q501, SM-Q500, SM-Q509, SM-Q508, SM-Q507, SM-Q506, SM-Q505. Devices of the largest size will have a 22.5 mAh battery. For sizes 8 to 11, the battery capacity will be 18.5 mAh, while the smallest models will have a battery of 17 mAh. According to preliminary estimates, the smart ring can work without recharging for up to 9 days.
The Galaxy Ring is positioned as a health monitor that will help users monitor their heart and blood flow using built-in ECG and other corresponding sensors.
Based on the analysis of the Samsung Find app code, the smart ring will have a Lost mode. This feature will help quickly locate the lost device. After activating this mode, the indicator built into the Galaxy Ring will start flashing in the app. The application will notify the user if the indicator is flashing or if a connection cannot be established to activate the indicator.
The device is expected to be priced in the range of $300-350. To work with the smart ring, an additional subscription to Samsung Health for $10 per month may be required. However, it has not been confirmed whether the subscription is mandatory for using the Galaxy Ring or not.
It is planned that the new health product will appear along with other important announcements, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Flip 6, and Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra at Galaxy Unpacked in a few weeks. The FCC documentation lists the Samsung Galaxy Ring in black. Versions in gold and silver colors were also showcased at MWC.
