In addition to the models motorola edge 50 ultra, motorola edge 50 pro, and motorola edge 50 fusion, it's now time to unveil the standard version of the motorola edge 50. This new device is marketed as the thinnest smartphone in the world, complying with military-level protection standards of MIL-810H. Consequently, it is designed to withstand dust, water, temperature fluctuations, shocks, drops, vibrations, and similar challenges. There are also reports of dust and moisture protection rated at IP68.

Although the motorola edge 50 has undergone “testing for compliance with the US Department of Defense standard MIL-STD-810H,” the company cannot guarantee “future performance under these testing conditions.” In other words, if the smartphone is damaged during extreme conditions or falls, Motorola’s warranty will not cover repairs. Thus, for a "rugged" smartphone, it may be wise to invest in a protective case and handle the device with the same care as any other smartphone.

For the most part, the motorola edge 50 is a typical modern mid-range smartphone. It features a 6.67-inch p-OLED display with a resolution of 1.5K, 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, and peak HDR brightness of 1900 nits. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition processor and offers 256 GB of built-in storage. The main camera includes a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 700C sensor, complemented by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide module with a 120-degree field of view and a telephoto module with 30x zoom capability. The front camera boasts a 32-megapixel sensor.

It houses a 5000 mAh battery that supports 68W fast wired charging via TurboPower and 15W wireless charging. Additionally, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner. This new device runs on Android 14. The manufacturer promises OS updates for three years and security updates for four years.

The recommended price for the motorola edge 50 has not yet been disclosed. Previously, there were rumors that the configuration with 12/512 GB of memory would cost around €600 in Europe. Sales are set to begin on August 1.
