Tesla Cybertruck with 4 hours of driving "kissed" the wall of a neighbor's house - owner says gas pedal and steering failed

The joyful mood of the owner of the new Tesla Cybertruck drastically changed when, according to him, the accelerator and steering failed, leading to an unwanted meeting with the neighbor's house. It seems that firmly pressing on the brake pedal was not enough to stop the pickup, as evidenced by the 15m skid marks on the asphalt.

Prior to the incident, the owner had only spent 4 hours behind the wheel. Surveillance camera footage captured the Cybertruck's path along a narrow lane, without any signs of slowing down before hitting the wall of the house across the street. The driver claims to have locked the rear wheels, as evidenced by the skid marks. Normally, a vehicle's brakes should override the accelerator, but this did not happen in the case of this particular pickup.

More concerning than the incident itself is the response from a Tesla representative over the phone:

"We have reviewed the logs and due to the terrain, the accelerator may or may not disengage when the brake is applied. As for the locking of the rear wheels, we are investigating this."

Fortunately, the driver was not injured during the accident, which caused significant damage to the stainless steel body of the electric vehicle. Photos from the scene show a deformed front fender, cracked windshield, and significant damage to the bumper and hood, requiring replacement.

  • The owner reported that the repair cost is estimated at $30,000. He decided not to repair the truck due to the one-year waiting period for parts replacement.

If the information provided by the car owner is true, this is a serious issue. It can be said that the driver was lucky not to be involved in a more serious incident. In any case, Tesla should carefully analyze this.
