Recently, rumors have spread online that Russians allegedly use SpaceX satellite internet in the occupied territories of Ukraine, purchasing terminals through the UAE.

This information has not been officially confirmed yet, however, some experts do not exclude such a possibility, in particular the author of the Telegram channel "About communication from Serhii Flash:

"Yesterday, information appeared in our media that the Russians bought a large batch of Starlink in Dubai. The accuracy of the information should be checked by our intelligence, but I fully admit this option. SpaceX provides its services in our southern occupied territories, where the enemy can use Starlink".

Remembering previous events, the work of Starlink in the occupied regions previously involved the possibility of "manual control" - just recall the story of how SpaceX deactivated communication off the coast of Crimea, preventing an attack by Ukrainian surface drones. Musk then argued that he "did not want to drag the US into war."

Eventually, the Pentagon took on the responsibility of purchasing terminals for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will work where needed, and in September 2023 announced that it had signed a contract with Starlink to provide services to support Ukraine without disclosing additional details. Considering this, it is quite possible that the US Department of Defense may deactivate terminals in the occupied Ukrainian territories if they are indeed there.
