Sony has announced that "approximately 40 to 50 games" will receive updates for the PlayStation 5 Pro at the time of the console's launch on November 7.

The chief system architect of PlayStation, Mark Cerny, shared the plans for game upgrades for the new PS5 Pro console. While Sony has officially named only 13 games that will be improved on launch day, the total number of upgraded titles will be significantly higher.

Among the confirmed games that will receive updates are:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Assassin's Creed: Shadows
  • Demon's Souls
  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • The Crew Motorfest
  • The First Descendant
  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

These games will receive various technical enhancements. For instance, The Last of Us Part 2, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will increase their frame rate in high-quality mode from 30 to 60 frames per second. Gran Turismo 7 will feature ray tracing reflections between cars during gameplay while maintaining a steady 60 frames per second. Horizon Forbidden West will improve lighting, visual effects, and the quality of character hair and skin in cutscenes.

As for PSVR 2, Sony has not yet announced specific upgrades for virtual reality games. However, Mark Cerny mentioned that the more powerful GPU of the PS5 Pro will enable higher resolution gaming for PSVR 2. He also noted a future implementation of AI upscaling by Sony that will work with all VR games.

The PlayStation 5 Pro will launch on November 7, priced at $699.99. The console will feature a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and will come pre-installed with the game Astro's Playroom.
