The author of adult content Belle Delphine boasted in X that she had earned almost a hundred thousand dollars selling water from her bath—however, in her recent posts, she complained that PayPal had blocked her account without warning, so she didn't receive a cent.
“PayPal closed my account without warning and took $90,000 that I earned from selling water from my bath,” wrote Belle Delphine. Source
Eventually, after the post in X, which has currently gathered almost a hundred thousand views, and after several inquiries from various media outlets (including Business Insider), PayPal reversed the decision to block the account.
PayPal's policy regarding adult content and products allowed the sale of physical items, such as DVD discs or magazines (or jars of water), but only for transactions within the US (Delphine is in the UK).
However, a year ago, the payment system's rules allowed for a $2500 fine for each item in violation—meaning each jar of bathwater from the blogger priced at $11 falls under this definition, which is why funds could have been blocked.
