The release timelines are unclear, but potentially Apple could unveil new versions of its accessories alongside the announcement of laptops featuring the M4 chip, which is expected to take place in the coming days.
Information about the Magic Mouse 2, Magic Trackpad 2, and Magic Keyboard was discovered in the iOS 18.1 code. There will likely be several keyboard versions — some with Touch ID and numeric keypads, as well as models without those features.
Although there is no specific information in iOS 18.1 about what to expect from these devices, MacRumors speculates that Apple will switch from Lightning to USB-C in these accessories and will finally reposition the port on the Magic Mouse (which was oddly located on the bottom of the device).
We anticipate that Apple won't delay the launch of the new Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard for long and will introduce them alongside the new models of MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with M4 — rumored to happen as soon as October, possibly any day now.
