NVIDIA announced the creation of the CUDA-Q platform for quantum computing, which will operate in national supercomputer centers worldwide. Supercomputers in Germany, Japan, and Poland will use the platform for quantum processing units (QPUs) in their high-performance computing systems. The platform supports the operation of existing quantum computers with NVIDIA accelerators.

The company revealed that nine new supercomputers worldwide will use NVIDIA's Grace Hopper superchips to accelerate scientific research and discoveries. Together, the systems provide 200 exaflops of energy-efficient AI computational power.

"Useful quantum computations are made possible by the tight integration of quantum supercomputers with graphic processors. NVIDIA's quantum computing platform allows pioneers like AIST, JSC, and PSNC to expand the boundaries of scientific discoveries and advance modern quantum-integrated supercomputer technologies," said Tim Costa, director of quantum technologies and HPC at NVIDIA.

The new platform will enable the use of quantum computers for research in artificial intelligence, energy, biology, chemistry, and other industries. NVIDIA provided examples of real scientific projects that will use the new technology. CUDA-Q is a quantum-classical accelerated supercomputer platform with open-source code that is not dependent on specific QPUs.
