NVIDIA is collaborating with partners to create a new ecosystem of small gaming PCs (SFF, Small Form Factor) with a compact video card in the SFF Enthusiast GeForce format. As part of its new initiative, NVIDIA wants to help developers of compact PCs choose the best components. Despite the many opportunities to build a compact PC on your own, there is no specific list of recommendations or standards, no exact list of guidelines on which equipment is best suited to each other for this.
The Wccftech website learned that NVIDIA is collaborating with partners, including not only video card manufacturers, but also case, power supply, and other component manufacturers, to assemble components ideally suited for SFF builds. This is important since compact builds are usually more limited in component choices. It is also important for them to optimally distribute space inside the case, create proper cooling and airflow circulation, as well as select a power supply.
NVIDIA will develop SFF instructions that will be passed on to its partners and ultimately help gamers create small, yet powerful computers. The recommendations will include setting a standard for video card and case manufacturers based on the dimensions and clearances in a system with a compact video card and case.
NVIDIA will not develop any components on its own, including video cards, however, partners will have a common set of recommendations, which can be called a standard, to create compact compatible components for their combination in a compact PC that would conform to the "SFF Enthusiast GeForce" standard.
This label will also be given to existing compact video cards, with the expectation that the GeForce RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti will be the first to receive this label. It is known that some video cards occupying three slots fit the standard. The "SFF Enthusiast GPU" label is also not limited to ITX systems. There is no exact date yet for when the standard will be officially announced, but it should happen soon.
