Netflix's gaming studio, located in Southern California, focused on developing AAA titles. According to Game File, it has been shut down (in fact, less than two years after its inception).
The studio, also known as "Team Blue," aimed to redefine Netflix's approach to gaming and had a high-budget strategy for creating projects across multiple platforms.
Over the past two years, "Team Blue" attracted several industry veterans: Overwatch's executive producer Chacko Sonny; former creative director at Bungie and 343 Industries who worked on Halo, Joseph Staten; and God of War's art director, Rafael Grassetti.
Staten departed from the "Xbox camp" at the time with plans to serve as the "creative director for a completely new AAA multi-platform game."
A Netflix representative confirmed the studio's closure and the departure of all three experts, though they did not provide reasons for this move.
Meanwhile, the streaming service continues to have studios developing smaller games, including those based on original projects from the platform. In July, Netflix directors stated they plan to release one game per month, claiming that 80 games were in development at that time.
