Typically, Google Pixel smartphones are the first to receive the new stable version of the Android operating system. However, this time, Android 15 has made its debut on Vivo devices.
In previous years, after Google devices, manufacturers like Samsung and OnePlus received updates. This year, the Vivo smartphone brand has surpassed Google and has become the first to release a firmware update for Android 15. This is not just empty talk or a company statement—users have already begun receiving updates on their devices, bringing them into the spotlight.

At least some premium models, such as the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro and Vivo X100, have received the stable version of Android 15. The rollout happened just a few days after Google released the Android 15 AOSP build, laying the groundwork for all Android vendors to deploy the latest software on their respective devices. AOSP, or Android Open Source Project, serves as the foundation for all custom Android interfaces, including Samsung's One UI and OnePlus's OxygenOS.
Vivo may not be very well-known in Ukraine, but it is one of the largest smartphone suppliers globally. Its parent company, BBK Electronics, also owns OnePlus and ranks among the top five phone manufacturers. The company markets its mobile devices under several well-known brands, including Oppo, Realme, iQOO, Vivo, and OnePlus.
Despite Vivo being the first to receive Android 15, Pixel and Galaxy owners need not despair. Google has confirmed that the Pixel 9 series and other dedicated smartphones will receive the Android 15 update in October. Samsung is expected to release updates for at least some of its premium phones by the end of the year.
