Screensavers promote LG's own products and announcements of the LG Channels service, as well as products from third-party companies, reports the FlatpanelsHD site, which tested the new LG G4 OLED TV starting at $2400.
The Android Authority site suggests, that over time, this type of advertising may also appear on older LG smart TVs. Fortunately, it can still be turned off in the settings.
Flat Panels HD recommends checking the additional settings and unchecking the option "Screensaver Ads" (where other ad formats can also be adjusted).
It is unclear whether this advertising has spread to specific regions or other models, but LG previously stated that by the end of the year, they would add more advertising to the webOS platform, which operates on over 200 million smart TVs worldwide.
The Verge, in turn, reminded that the presence of ads on LG televisions has long been known — for more than three years, even in the LG app store, audio ads are automatically played, somewhat alarming users.
