In California, a new version of the Tesla Model Y "Juniper" was spotted covered with camouflage covers, sparking talks once again about the car manufacturer preparing a redesign of its popular electric crossover.

A new photograph was published on Reddit. The image shows a black Model Y electric car with covered front and rear bumpers. It is also possible to see a front camera, which is intended to assist with parking, as Tesla removed ultrasonic sensors many years ago.

Recently, the Model 3 sedan received a design update. Tesla redesigned the front and rear bumpers on the Model 3, added slanted headlights, notches to the rear lights, and switched to a text logo. In the interior of the Model 3, there is now an RGB strip on the instrument panel, new ventilated seats, a rear entertainment system screen. Tesla also removed the traditional steering wheel controls, which received negative feedback.

Currently, the Model Y is the last car in Tesla's lineup with switches for turn signals and gear shifting. It has not been confirmed yet whether the "Juniper" version of the Model Y will lack switches, like the latest Model 3, S, X, and Cybertruck cars, but it is likely to happen.

The Model 3 and Model Y share many common parts, and design changes are often seen between the cars, such as the transition from chrome elements to matte black and the addition of wireless phone chargers.

Earlier, the media reported that Tesla plans to release an updated Model Y called "Juniper" in "mid-2024." However, Tesla and CEO Elon Musk later stated that the company does not plan to update the Model Y "this year."
