Tesla's autopilot works better if you're Elon Musk - routes are optimized for him

Insiders from Tesla claim that the company has optimized Full Self-Driving routes specifically for Elon Musk. Also, the creators of FSD are the ones who benefit the most from the autonomous driving experience. Drivers in other regions of the US have not had such a good impression.

For many years, Elon Musk has praised Tesla's efforts in autonomous car control, Full Self-Driving systems. He is often quoted to encourage people to try the system. Experienced third-party drivers often deny these praises. In particular, they note discrepancies between the videos of Tesla officials, mainly from California, Musk's statements about the effectiveness of FSD Beta, and what actually happens with ordinary drivers from other regions of the US and Canada. Their suspicion is that Tesla mainly trained neural networks on the roads of the west coast, but customization for Musk also seems to explain the difference.

Current and former Tesla employees claim that the company has optimized neural networks specifically for the routes used by CEO Elon Musk and influential figures at Tesla who are creating the FSD system. They say that images and videos with Tesla Musk have undergone thorough verification, and data from high-ranking drivers took precedence in solving Full Self-Driving software issues. As a result, the autopilot manages Musk's and other VIPs' routes better.

Employees who review clips of Tesla vehicles to help train its autonomous neural networks have been tasked to focus on two categories: "CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, and a selected set of VIP drivers." Several annotators confirmed that they were instructed to work on routes around Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, as well as homes previously owned by Musk. They say this will undoubtedly result in Musk having a better experience with Tesla FSD than the average Tesla driver.

"It seemed like we specifically made his car better so that the autopilot seemed different than it was. It seemed unfair."

The company has created a system to prioritize data from drivers who are most likely to share their experience online. According to employees, these drivers are internally referred to as "VIP users," and their data is sometimes placed in the VIP queue.

Some employees have claimed that the creators of FSD content push the system to the limit of possibilities, and therefore it makes sense to train neural networks to handle such situations, but this also results in them having a better experience than the average driver.

Elon Musk often comments on complaints about Full Self-Driving and recommends people to watch these videos, moreover, to use them to sell FSD. The fact of optimization for the most active testers and drivers can be understood on its own, but considering the difference in optimization, such advice can be considered deceptive advertising.
