The Chinese automaker Leapmotor has commenced sales of its compact urban electric vehicle T03 in Europe. This model is anticipated to be among the most affordable electric vehicles on the continent.

The Leapmotor T03 is powered by a 37.3 kWh battery, offering a range of 265 km on the WLTP cycle. This compact vehicle features a single electric motor producing 95 hp, located on the front axle. It is comparable in size to its main competitor, the Dacia Spring, but boasts more power and a greater range, though its price is slightly higher.

The Leapmotor T03 is entering the European market with a starting price of €18,900 and £15,995 in the UK. To avoid price increases from European tariffs, Leapmotor plans to produce the vehicle in Europe. Through a joint venture agreement with Stellantis, the first T03s are expected to roll off the assembly line in Tychy, Poland, by the end of the year. This plant also manufactures the Alfa Romeo Junior, Jeep Avenger, and Fiat 600. With Stellantis’ collaboration, Leapmotor vehicles in Europe will be connected to a wide range of national service networks, enhancing their appeal to local consumers.

The T03 is not the only electric vehicle from Leapmotor to be launched in Europe. The second model, the C10, is an electric crossover larger than the Volkswagen ID.4 and slightly smaller than the new electric Porsche Macan. It promises "best-in-class safety, intelligent user interaction, and premium comfort" at a starting price of €36,400, lower than all competitors of similar size. Its LFP battery with a capacity of 69.9 kWh offers a range of up to 420 km according to the WLTP cycle, making it competitive in this segment.

Unlike the T03, Leapmotor will not manufacture the C10 in Europe, which makes it susceptible to fluctuations in prices for vehicles imported from China. The company stated that it plans to introduce new electric models in Europe over the next three years.
