Yesterday, the Galaxy Unpacked presentation took place during which Samsung introduced its new foldable smartphones, smartwatches, and wireless earbuds. Following this event, numerous tech publications, YouTube users, and even some Samsung fans expressed the opinion that this time the Korean consumer electronics giant was too carried away by imitating Apple's device design.
Social media users criticized the products presented at the current Galaxy Unpacked and complained about the lack of significant updates in the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Many also expressed the opinion that Samsung seems to be trying to "clone" Apple products.
"Watch Ultra is the most shameless copy of an Apple product in centuries — and it's awful," said YouTuber Quinn Nelson of the Snazzy Labs technical review channel with over a million subscribers.
Wireless earbuds also were found to have many similarities to Apple's earbuds.
"Wait, this is becoming even more shameless," continued the YouTuber on his SnazzyLabs account. "Buds3 and Buds3 Pro are clones of AirPods."
It appears obvious that Samsung released the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Buds 3 series to compete with Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods. However, for many, the resemblance between them went beyond competition and crossed into the territory of "copying."
Thoughts similar to those expressed by Quinn Nelson are held by many other users. Indeed, if you place the devices side by side, they look very similar. In addition to the new Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra having a similar appearance, they also have an identical strap and even a similar Apple Watch Ultra name.
News outlets such as The Verge and Business Insider also joined the criticism of Samsung and noted the cloning of Apple devices.
"New Samsung Ultra watches and headphones are shameless copies of Apple," the Business Insider headline reads.
The Verge article is no less eloquent: "New Samsung Galaxy Buds are blatant clones of AirPods in both form and function."
"To see Samsung simply release a bunch of Apple clones is disheartening," wrote Andrew O'Hara of Apple Insider on X. "It's boring and a huge failure compared to what Samsung used to be."
