Since yesterday, Instagram and Facebook have blocked the search query "Adam Driver, Megalopolis" with a warning about content that may be related to child sexual abuse.

“We believe that your search query may be related to child sexual abuse. Child sexual abuse or viewing sexually explicit images of children can lead to imprisonment and other severe personal consequences. Such violence causes significant harm to children, and searching for and viewing such material amplifies this harm,” — the message states

As noted by The Verge, Facebook and Instagram are also blocking queries that contain the tags “mega” and “drive” (in this case, the issue is not new, as a nine-month-old post on Reddit reported the blocking of the query “Sega mega drive” on Facebook).

Currently, Meta has not provided any comments regarding the blocking. At the time of writing, the query was still blocked.

It’s worth noting that “Megalopolis” is the new film by Francis Ford Coppola, essentially an epic fable of Ancient Rome set in modern America. An accident destroys the megacity of New Rome, and architect Caesar Cataline (Adam Driver), endowed with the ability to stop time, attempts to build a utopian city from scratch.

The film has already encountered controversies before its actual premiere. One of the trailers featured fake quotes from critics that were generated by one of the staff using AI. Media reports have also suggested possible harassment by Coppola toward an intern — the director has filed a lawsuit, accusing journalists of defamation.
