The HUAWEI Mate XT Ultimate Design is the world's first triple-folding smartphone, set to be priced at an astonishing $2800.
HUAWEI has released documentation detailing the costs of replacement parts for the Mate XT, revealing that just replacing the OLED display will set users back $1100 — essentially reaching 50% of the smartphone's original price and nearly equivalent to the cost of a new iPhone 16 Pro Max with 256GB storage.
This price applies if you agree to let HUAWEI repair the damaged screen for free; however, if you decline the offer, a new screen will cost nearly $1400.
The company is also offering screen replacement insurance plans starting at $490 for a single screen replacement during the first year after purchasing the Mate XT.
In comparison, repairing the internal foldable screen on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, which includes replacing the OLED panel, its metal frame, and the phone's battery, has been reduced to $200 upon the first request; meanwhile, Google, in partnership with iFixit, sells a replacement foldable screen for the Pixel Fold for $900 as part of a kit that also includes new batteries.
Other replacement parts for the HUAWEI Mate XT are somewhat cheaper: replacing the battery will cost $70, while camera replacements range from $38 to $107. However, the motherboard priced at $1280 still competes with the cost of the screen replacement.
