German blogger Hänno has received exclusive access to the remake of the legendary game Gothic at the Gamescom 2024 exhibition.
The video showcases updated locations, characters, the combat system, and other aspects of the highly anticipated game.
Gothic takes place in a fantasy world where the king sends prisoners to mine magical ore. The valley with the mines is surrounded by a magical barrier, and the convicts have established their own order within. The main character, known simply as the Nameless, initially appears to be an ordinary criminal destined to become a key figure in this world.
Alkimia Interactive
Alkimia Interactive is a Barcelona-based video game development studio specializing in RPGs and adventure action games. The team is currently working on the Gothic remake. has kept the core of the game intact. Players will explore an open world, battle humans and monsters, undertake quests for three factions, and develop their characters.
Originally released in 2001 by the German studio Piranha Bytes, Gothic quickly became a cult role-playing game. It was known for its dark medieval world, nonlinear storyline, and complex interaction system with non-playable characters. Players remember the game for its atmosphere of despair and survival in a harsh magical prison, where the main character must forge their path to power and freedom.
The Gothic 1 Remake will be available on PC (Steam, GOG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
