GitHub has announced Copilot Workspace, a development environment using "Copilot-based agents." They are intended to help developers brainstorm, plan, create, test, and execute code in natural language.
This was shared by GitHub Next Lead Jonathan Carter, TechCrunch reports.
GitHub introduces Workspace as a kind of evolution of the AI Copilot with Copilot Chat capabilities.
Workspace, powered by OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo, can create a plan, fix an issue, or implement a new feature based on understanding repository comments, provide responses, and access a large codebase.
The suggested code can be run directly in Workspace and shared among team members through an external link.
The easiest way to launch Workspace is to click the new Open in Workspace button to the left of tasks.
Workspace systematically executes requests step by step, creating a specification, generating a plan, and then implementing it.
Developers can dive into any of these steps to get a detailed overview of the proposed code and changes, as well as delete, restart, or change the order of actions.
A preview version of Workspace, optimized for various devices, will be released next week.
It is worth noting that Microsoft recently added its Copilot AI assistant to the Windows 11 startup.
Developers and experts have called these changes disgusting and annoying, as it "resembles the behavior of some annoying third-party application."
