The Italian brand Ferrari, known for its sports gasoline cars, has announced that it will release its electric car by the end of next year. According to Reuters, citing its sources, the price of the first Ferrari electric car will be at least €500,000.
It should be noted that the Ferrari electric car will cost significantly more than the gasoline versions of this manufacturer and other competitors. The average selling price of a Ferrari in the first quarter of this year was approximately €350,000, including additional options. At the same time, the price of the electric version does not include options and individual order features, which usually add another 15-20% to the car's cost. Thus, while other automakers are forced to lower prices on their electric cars, Ferrari feels confident.
Furthermore, the company plans to open an additional factory that will assemble Ferrari electric cars. It is expected to increase the group's sales by a third. Last year, Ferrari sold less than 14,000 cars, and the new factory will eventually increase production capacity to approximately 20,000 units, said a source on condition of anonymity. Currently, waiting lists for some models can exceed 2 years.
It is expected that the new plant in Maranello will provide Ferrari with an additional line for car assembly and will produce gasoline and hybrid cars, new electric cars, as well as components for hybrids and electric cars. According to the source, it will be operational at full capacity in 3-4 months.
It is also reported that even before releasing its first electric car, Ferrari has already begun development of a second electric model. The project is currently in the early stage.
Mediobanca analyst Andrea Balloni said that the new Ferrari electric car will be a niche model, accounting for just over 10% of annual sales. He added that the main Ferrari customer still prefers gasoline models.
