Operatives from the Cyber Police and SBU apprehended a 47-year-old resident of Kharkiv Region on suspicion of aiding a terrorist state: the businessman allegedly assisted the occupiers in configuring military-civilian reconnaissance satellites.
This concerns the "Condor-FKA" and "Obzor-R" satellites, which were launched into orbit in 2023 with the goal of conducting continuous surveillance of Ukrainian Armed Forces and adjusting strikes on Ukrainian military positions.
The detained man, while located in Kharkiv during 2023-2024, allegedly “provided remote setup, calibration, and adjustment” of specialized radar equipment, which was later integrated into satellites undergoing testing at a specialized site in the Volgograd region of Russia.
It turned out that the man is the director of a legal entity registered in Russia and has connections with representatives of "Roscosmos." He also obtained a Russian citizenship passport and supported the ideological aggression of the occupying state against Ukraine.
At the residence of the suspect and his potential accomplices, 14 authorized searches were conducted: documents, seals, computer equipment, electronic data storage devices, and foreign currency (particularly in Russian rubles, totaling around 11 million UAH) were seized.
The man faces up to 12 years in prison on suspicion of aiding an aggressor state under part 1 of Article 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (however, further qualifications are possible as investigative actions are ongoing).
